Short-term joint staff training events in Rožňava
The main purpose of the first short-term joint staff training event was to create a team of teacher-experts who focused on exchange of good practices and they worked our new methodologies and lesson plans dedicated to teaching history in an innovative and interactive way. Each school chose a teacher of history who cooperated during the assigned week.
The history teachers started the chain of staff training events as the topic of the project is focused on WWII history. As learning history for the contemporary generation is boring, this team of teachers created new interactive and innovative methodologies and lesson plans for the students. The current history study books are not interesting enough for the pupils and the teaching should be more rewarding and fulfilling for the teacher and students as well. During this event the history teachers focused on enriching the curriculum with more effective ways of teaching history and developing new content which would enhance the students´ interest and awareness. The teachers focused on the rise of militarism and dictators in different countries. They tailored interactive classes that go beyond manuals and sheets of dates and events.
21st March: the teachers had an initial meeting where the planned programme was discussed and evaluated. They had a school tour organised by our project coordinator and they had a meeting with the school´s headmistress who prepared for them a presentation of our school and of our curriculum.During the teacher expert workshops, the teachers had a presentation of possible tools which could be used while preparing the innovative lesson plans. The project coordinator prepared a presentation of the following tools:https://genial.ly/; https://www.powtoon.com; https://www.canva.com; https://h5p.org; https://timeline.knightlab.com/; https://learningapps.org/; https://www.liveworksheets.com/.After the presentation of these tools the history teachers had an opportunity to try these tools. They created an Escape room game about the history of Rožňava.
