• Short-term exchanges of groups of pupils in Split

Sunday (May 15): It all started early on Sunday morning, when we all met and set off on the road. When we arrived in Croatia after about 10 hours, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm and sunny weather. We stayed in HoStel Dujam Split. We put our things in our rooms and decided to go to the beach. The sea was slightly below 20 °C, but we quickly got used to it. Later we decided to go out to eat. We chose one of the restaurants on the beach. They cooked there really tasty. After dinner, we washed back to the accommodation, where we got ready and finally rested for a while after a long day.

Monday (16.5.): Since we had breakfast at 8.00, we got up around 6.45 - 7.00. Breakfast was in the form of a buffet. After breakfast, students from the gymnasium were already waiting for us in front of the hostel to show us the way to school. After arriving at the school, we had an opening ceremony where 2 girls sang for us, we received gift bags and everyone introduced themselves. Later, we were divided into groups in which each school was represented by one member. This means that in each group there was one person from Split, Zagreb, Spain and Slovakia. We worked in these groups all morning. First, we watched various presentations focused on percentages, later we solved examples and played Kahoot. The examples were quite challenging, but we were able to solve some correctly. During the lunch break, they brought our food directly to the classroom in the lunch boxes. The food was tasty, but the portions were too large for my taste. After the lunch break, we had activities focused on healthy nutrition and discussion. From school we went straight to the beach, where we spent about 2 hours. Later, a city tour awaited us, where we learned all the interesting things about the origin of Split, which lasted about 2 hours. After the tour we had parting and dinner.

Tuesday (May 17): As on Monday, after breakfast we went to school. The journey from the hostel to the school was quite long. It lasted about 25 minutes, but at least we could get to know the city better. At school, we had lectures on the history of sports in Split, where we could learn a lot about the oldest clubs in the city, such as the football club HNK Hajduk Split. Later we solved various mathematical examples and related ones. For example, our team was given the task of finding which function is the result of the entered values, and all of this was connected to the construction of a football stadium. Pre-work activities were also presented, in which the results of questionnaires filled out by athletes at individual schools were presented. We also had an activity aimed at observing changes in blood pressure or pulse values at rest and after physical activity. After finishing school, we went to the beach again. The journey from the school to the beach also took about 20 minutes. After spending about 2 hours on the beach, we returned to the city centre where we all met. An escape game awaited us, where we had to solve a murder based on solving mathematical examples. Hints were hidden all around. When we were all done, we parted again and went out to eat.

Wednesday (May 18): After arriving at school, we were seated in the computer room, where this time we worked in teams composed of one school. Each country had 2 groups. We worked on various calculations in the field of demography in connection with our country. We enjoyed this activity the most. As an output, we had to prepare a presentation, which we all presented after the lunch break. Pre-work activities were also presented, which were aimed at disassembling a well-known building in our region down to the smallest detail. For example, angles and sines of window arches and the like should have been calculated there. Again, after spending some time on the beach, we met to visit together the local Meštrović Gallery and the historical buildings that belong to it. They received a detailed explanation of each statue. The tour lasted 2 hours.

Thursday (May 19): A trip to the island of Brač was planned today. Because of this, we got up a little earlier to catch the ferry. After we arrived in Supetar, we boarded a bus that took us to a nearby well-known sculpture workshop. There we got a lecture about the work with the white stone there and we could also see the beautiful pieces that were displayed there. We learned interesting information about the local history in connection with this activity. We continued by bus to the highest point of Brač, from where we had a view of the most beautiful beach on the island. After about an hour's journey, we reached one of the most beautiful beaches, where we had time for about an hour and a half. Then we moved back to Supetar, where we also parted ways. We returned to Split after an hour's ferry ride.

Friday (20.5.): After arriving at school, we only had a little time to prepare a presentation about inflation, where we focused on the price increase of healthy products, such as yogurt and fruit. Then we presented everything and had a lunch break. Then we spent some time on the beach again and we all met at 16.00
