Croatia - X. gimnazija "Ivan Supek"
X. gimnazija “Ivan Supek” is a public high school in Zagreb, Croatia founded in 1961. The scholl curriculum programme prepares students for tertiary education covering general-education high school programme as well as mathematics and natural sciences. There are 1077 students and 124 employees (82 are teachers) what make us the largest grammar school in Croatia. There are 42 classes of which 8 are bilingual. Many extra-curricular activities (Book worms, drama group, school magazine „Cener“, debate club, choir, film, dance, sport groups etc.) has been offered to our students. Our motto is „School by students measure“ offering our attandances opportunity to acquire a broad general education and develop one's abilities and moral values while satisfying one's personal interests. October, 29th 2008 the school met all standards required to become a registered Cambridge International Examinations Centre HR006, thus becoming the first public school in Croatia offering IGCSE and A level qualifications for both our students as well as for private candidates. February, 2nd 2009 our school officially became part of the Pasch project, enabling students learning German as well as participating in many various Pasch projects supported by the Goethe institute. The school is a member of the Asian-European Clasroom Network Foundation, connecting schools in Europe and Asia. The Scholl is a host school for Rotary exchange students. There is a great experience in promoting the international dimension of education, intercultural awareness and language diversity within our scholl. Many of our students take part in both the national and international competitions in nearly all the subjects. From 2015 we are active member of the Erasmus+ community. So far we succesfully completed 5 Erasmus+ projects (KA1, KA201). Our major success is KA201 „Handbook for reluctant, struggling and poor readers“ regulary presented as a good practice example on seminnares and workshops organized by Croatian National Agency (AMPEU). This Project shows a proven school's ability and strong capacity to handle the complex and demanding project structures as well as to to lehic pad and mentor the newcommers and less experienced in Erasmus+. The school cultivates literacy environment for a long time. Motivation for the new project emerged from the last project accomplishments (H4RSP), driven by the idea that Literacy must not be taken for granted and must be continuously developed within other subject areas as well. We gladely involve our scholl in eTwinning projects. So far we have participated in about a dozen of them. The key person in charge of running this project will be Jelena Crnek. In case she leaves the post in the future, her deputy, Cvjetanka Božanić will carry out and finalize the project. In addition, a team of associate professors will participate in the implementation of this project.
