Short-term exchanges of groups of pupils in Koszalin, Poland
From 24th September - 1st October 2023
On the first day, Saturday, we were were traveling by a bus to Krakow for around 4 hours. It was a very long and tiring travel. We came to a hotel called Green Cat Rooms in Krakow, it was very interesting because the whole aesthetic of the rooms and the corridor were cats. After we put our things down, we took a trip around the square, looked at the interesting architecture of the buildings and the castle. We have stayed in Krakow for just one night. The other day we went to the airport and traveled by a plane to Gdańsk. After the flight we traveled with a bus once again to Koszalin, where we stayed for the whole week. In Koszalin we got the best apartment with everything we needed and we are never going to forget it. It was a really nice experience that we had to take care of ourselves and live ‘alone’ for a week. In the evening the Italian students came and we had a dinner with them and got to know each other.
On the first day of school, we presented the presentations that we have prepared a few weeks before our trip to Poland. We also got to know each other more with the Polish, Greek and Italian students, after that, we have been on a school tour, and a city tour around Koszalin and visited the longest park we have ever seen. In the evening we came back to school and tasted the prepared national food from each country and danced national dances.
The second day, Tuesday, was a trip day to Stutowo and Gdańsk. We traveled by a bus. The first place was Stutowo in which we visited a German concentration camp with a very interesting history. After that we visited Gdańsk, a museum of World War ll. We got to see much from how the life looked in the World War ll. We visited the old town which was full of ships and it was so beautiful.
On Wednesday we were divided to work in teams, the team consisted of a person from each country. We got topics connected to the World War ll and worked on it. At the end of the school day, we presented the outcomes of our work.
Thursday was the best day; it was a trip to Ustka where we visited Blücher's bunkers. We were walking around listening to the history of the bunkers and looked in them. After the bunker tour we participated on an archery tournament. We also got free time to visit the seaside with the beautiful view of the sea which I saw for the very first time, we walked on the beach and enjoyed our time.
On Friday, the last school day, we gathered and watched an educational film, speech by Marian Turski, a former prisoner of the German concentration camp in Auschwitz. It was the 75th anniversary of the Auschwitz‘s liberation. After his speech, to the topic Ukrainian – Russian war a refugee came and talked about her opinion on the war and how hard it is to live normally for her and her family in these times. At the evening we went on a dinner with the Polish and Italian students. After coming back from the dinner, we packed our luggage for the next morning. In the morning we left by a bus back to Gdańsk and looked around the beautiful city once again. There was an art exhibition on the street, music, people and everything that we needed to enjoy our last day in Gdańsk. We got ready for leaving the next day and slept one night at the hotel. Early in the morning we took our luggage and everything we had with ourselves and went to the airport. We flew back to Krakow where we visited the square again and later after our lunch, we met with the Greek students who came to Krakow the day before us. At 4pm we sat on the bus and traveled back to Kosice
