Towards our mutual future with students and colleagues from Malta

On 16th March 2024 we started to host our wonderful colleagues and amazing students from Malta ( Friends of the Archbishop's Seminary school) at our school. On Sunday we managed to visit the Domica cave, Mauselum in Krásnohorské Podhradie and the Manor house in Betliar. 

The second day was dedicated to the introduction of our school, icebreaking activities and games focusing on inclusion. We welcomed our guests with bread and salt in our folk costumes and traditional dances and songs.

On Tuesday we organised a trip for our guests to Košice, where the students visited the Ecocenter Sosna where they had workshops focusing on Climate changes and in the afternoon our students introduced them the historical centre of Košice.

Wednesday started with activities focusing on sustainability, the students played a game where they learned about the amount of CO2 emitted during the production of evryday subjects and then they found out how much CO2 is emitted during the transportation of clothes to different countries. On the square of our town they played the board game which was created in our "To be green is evergreen". In the afternoon they travelled to Štrbské Pleso where they enjoyed the winter sports and snow.The last day was dedicated to activities where the students learned about our past from a theatre performance that was made by our colleague and students. Then the activities were focusing on democracy and the children´s rights. The mobility ended with a farewell and the students received their certificates of attendance. We hope to meet our new friends soon in Malta.

 

  

 

 

 

Smerom k našej spoločnej budúcnosti so študentmi a kolegami z Malty

Dňa 16. marca 2024 sme začali na našej škole hostiť našich úžasných kolegov a úžasných študentov z Malty (Friends of the Archbishop's Seminary school). V nedeľu sme stihli navštíviť jaskyňu Domica, Mauzóleum v Krásnohorskom Podhradí a Kaštieľ v Betliari. 

Druhý deň bol venovaný predstaveniu našej školy, icebreakingovým aktivitám a hrám so zameraním na inklúziu. Našich hostí sme privítali chlebom a soľou v ľudových krojoch a tradičných tancoch a piesňach.

V utorok sme pre našich hostí zorganizovali výlet do Košíc, kde študenti navštívili Ekocentrum Sosna, kde mali workshopy na tému Klimatické zmeny a poobede im naši študenti predstavili historické centrum Košíc.

Streda začala aktivitami zameranými na trvalú udržateľnosť, študenti si zahrali hru, kde sa dozvedeli o množstve vyprodukovaného CO2 pri výrobe každodenných predmetov a následne zisťovali, koľko CO2 sa uvoľňuje pri preprave oblečenia do rôznych krajín. Na námestí nášho mesta hrali spoločenskú hru, ktorá vznikla v našom projekte „Ekologicky sa zeleniť je časom overený hit“. Popoludní odcestovali na Štrbské Pleso, kde si užili zimné športy a sneh. Posledný deň bol venovaný aktivitám, kde sa žiaci dozvedeli o našej minulosti z divadelného predstavenia, ktoré vytvorili naši kolegovia a žiaci. Potom boli aktivity zamerané na demokraciu a práva detí. Mobilita sa skončila rozlúčkou a študenti si prevzali potvrdenia o účasti. Dúfame, že čoskoro spoznáme našich nových priateľov na Malte.

 

  

 

Our democratic Europe

 

In the last week of January, our school hosted exchange students from Greece and Portugal.
On Monday, we welcomed our foreign partners in traditional Slovak, with bread and salt, and then we were presented with a presentation of the country, the school and a tour of the city with an ascent to the Watchtower.

The second day was unusual for our guests from the subtropics, as we went with them by bus to Vernár, where we enjoyed skiing and sledding, and the atmosphere on the snowy slope was made even better by the beautiful sunny weather.

Wednesday was full of activities related to democracy in the world but also in the school. The students acquired basic knowledge about human rights, created 3 social and 3 online games, and in the afternoon, after the school parliament presented its activities at the school, groups of students tried the imaginary implementation of reforms in the school facility as part of the Participatory Budget.
On the same day, a short trip to the Betliarske mansion took place.

On Thursday, we took our partners to the metropolis of eastern Slovakia, where we first participated in a workshop organized by the Regional Youth Center and then a tour of Košice awaited us, while our students played the role of guides and prepared a few interesting facts about each visited monument.

We spent the last working afternoon at school presenting our games that we created together on Wednesday. Before that, however, we performed a pre-rehearsed scene that took place in the post-war period up to the fall of socialism in Slovakia, with which we wanted to point out how difficult it was to win a democratic regime in the country. At the end, each project participant received a certificate and then followed a free program outside the school with host families and friends.

We take away many beautiful memories, great experiences and unforgettable friendships from this week. But our mobility does not end there, as the next trip awaits the students of the P.J. Šafárik High School in April 2024, when they will travel to Portugal for democracy.

Naša Demokratická Európa

Posledný januárový týždeň naša škola hostila výmenných študentov z Grécka a Portugalska.
V pondelok sme našich zahraničných partnerov privítali tradične slovensky, chlebom a soľou a následne nás čakalo predstavovanie krajiny, školy a obhliadka mesta s výstupom na Strážnu vežu.    

Druhý deň bol pre našich hostí zo subtrópov nezvyčajný, keďže sme sa spolu s nimi vybrali autobusom na Vernár, kde sme si užili lyžovanie a sánkovanie, a atmosféru na zasneženom svahu ešte vylepšilo krásne slnečné počasie.

Streda bola plná aktivít spojených z demokraciou vo svete ale aj v škole. Študenti si osvojili základné vedomosti o ľudských právach, vytvorili 3 spoločenské a 3 online hry, a poobede po tom, ako školský parlament odprezentoval svoju činnosť na škole, si skupinky žiakov vyskúšali pomyselné zavádzanie reforiem v školskom zariadení ako súčasť Participatívneho rozpočtu. 
Ešte v ten istý deň sa uskutočnil krátky výlet do Betliarskeho kaštieľa.

Vo štvrtok sme našich partnerov vzali do metropoly východného Slovenska, kde sme sa najprv zúčastnili workshopu organizovaného Regionálnym centrom mládeže a potom nás čakala prehliadka Košíc, pričom sa naši študenti zahrali na sprievodcov a o každej navštívenej pamiatke si pripravili pár zaujímavých faktov.

Posledné pracovné poludnie sme strávili v škole prezentovaním svojich hier, ktoré sme spoločne vytvorili v stredu. Predtým sme však ešte predviedli vopred nacvičenú scénku odohrávajúcu sa v povojnovom období až po pád socializmu na Slovensku, čím sme chceli poukázať na to, aké náročné bolo vybojovať si demokratický režim v štáte. Nakoniec dostal každý účastník projektu certifikát a potom nasledoval voľný program mimo školy s hosťovskými rodinami a priateľmi.

Z tohto týždňa si odnášame veľa krásnych spomienok, skvelé zážitky a nezabudnuteľné priateľstvá.  Týmto sa ale naša mobilita nekončí, keďže ďalší výjazd čaká študentov Gymnázia P.J.Šafárika už v Apríli 2024, keď vycestujú za demokraciou do Portugalska.
