We are flying home today, but we hope to meet again. Once again, we thank the host families for their care of our students, for the time they devoted to them after they returned from school and filled it with various activities. We appreciate their understanding of the wishes of our students and their friendly attitude to all of us. Thanks a million.

Dnes odlietame domov, ale veríme, že sa ešte stretneme. Ešte raz ďakujeme hosťujúcim rodinám za ich starostlivosť o našich žiakov, za čas, ktorý im venovali po návrate zo školy a vyplnili ho rôznymi aktivitami. Oceňujeme ich porozumenie k želaniam našich žiakov a ich priateľský prístup k nám všetkým. Veľká vďaka.

 

Before we have realized it's the last day of our stay in Malta. We spent it at school, learning to use the actionbound application, in which we summarized our entire stay in short videos. The videos will remind us of unforgettable moments with friends, their families and colleagues who took care of us and prepared a program full of unique experiences and new challenges. We are leaving soon feeling that we have met incredible people who have done everything to make us feel at home in Malta. Thank you.

Ani sme sa nenazdali a je tu posledný deň nášho pobytu na Malte. Strávili sme ho v škole, naučili sme sa používať aplikáciu actionbound, v ktorej sme v krátkych videách zosumarizovali celý náš pobyt. Videá nám budú pripomínať nezabudnuteľné chvíle s priateľmi, ich rodinami a kolegami, ktorí sa o nás starali a pripravili program plný neopakovateľných zážitkov a nových skúseností. Odchádzame domov s pocitom, že sme spoznali neuveriteľných ľudí, ktorí urobili všetko pre to, aby sme sa cítili na Malte ako doma. Ďakujeme.

 

On May 9, Malta celebrated European Union Day. Together with our partners from The Archbishop's Minor Seminary, we participated in the celebrations in the capital city of Valletta. First, we visited the parliament building, from where we were taken on a private tour of the Prime Minister's offices. We were lucky and met the Prime Minister Robert Abela in person. Despite his busy schedule, he gave us a moment. Our last stop was Europe House, where the offices of the Maltese Members of the European Parliament and the European Commission are located. We had the opportunity to discuss democracy, the EU and its values, and the upcoming elections to the European Parliament.

All activities raised students' awareness of EU values and encouraged them to active citizenship and participation.

9.mája na Malte oslavovali Deň Európskej únie. Spolu s našimi partnermi z The Archbishop's Minor Seminary sme sa osláv zúčastnili v hlavnom meste Valletta. Najskôr sme navštívili budovu parlamentu, odkiaľ nás zobrali na súkromnú prehliadku kancelárie predsedu vlády. Mali sme šťastie a predsedu vlády, Roberta Abelu sme stretli osobne. Napriek svojej zaneprázdnenosti nám chvíľku venoval. Naša posledná zastávka bola Europe House, kde sa nachádzajú kancelárie Maltských členov európskeho parlamentu a Európskej komisie. Mali sme možnosť diskutovať o demokracii, EÚ a jej hodnotách a o blížiacich sa voľbách do Európskeho parlamentu.

Všetky aktivity zvýšili povedomie študentov o hodnotách EÚ a povzbudili ich k aktívnemu občianstvu a participácii.

 

Today we admired the natural beauty of Malta. The amazing result of the weathering is the Ahrax Sinkhole, where we stopped. We took the ferry to the island of Comino. We admired the eroded caves on the cliffs of Comino. Only two inhabitants live on the island. We met one of them and he told us about his farm, which operates on sustainable measures. Mr. Salva uses solar energy to cultivate the land and obtain drinking water. He made all the equipment, gadgets, and machines he uses on the farm himself.

Dnes sme obdivovali prírodné krásy Malty. Úžasným výsledkom zvetrávania je diera Ahrax Sinkhole, pri ktorej sme sa zastavili. Trajektom sme prešli na ostrov Comino. Počas plavby sme obdivovali erodované jaskyne na útesoch Comina. Na ostrove žijú len dvaja obyvatelia. S jedným z nich sme sa stretli a porozprával nám o svojej farme, ktorá funguje na základe trvalo udržateľných opatrení. Pán Salva využíva solárnu energiu aby mohol obrábať pôdu, získal pitnú vodu. Všetky zariadenia a stroje, ktoré používa na farme si vyrobil sám.

 

Tuesday was a creative day for our students. In the morning, they took part in a practical art class, during which they learned to work with clay, make clay products and paint them.

The host school, The Archbishop's Minor Seminary, also prepared tasks for the students today, which they were supposed to complete through the actionbound application. They searched for answers to various riddles, questions and other tasks on the way from school to Mdina.

Utorok bol pre našich žiakov kreatívny. Doobeda sa zúčastnili praktickej hodiny umenia, počas ktorej sa učili pracovať s hlinou, vyrábali hlinené výrobky a maľovali ich.

Hosťujúca škola, The Archbishop's Minor Seminary, pripravila pre žiakov aj na dnes úlohy, ktoré mali plniť cez aplikáciu actionbound. Odpovede na rôzne hádanky, otázky a iné úlohy hľadali na ceste zo školy do Mdiny.

 

 

On the first day of our stay in Malta, the students started with a short instruction on the actionbound mobile application. During the whole week, they have assigned tasks, e.g. take photos, shoot short videos, the result of which will be a joint video of our and Maltese students. Today they performed tasks in the capital Valletta and in Birgu. In Valletta, we visited St. John's Co Cathedral and in Birgu Senglea Parish Church. We have learnt that faith is a key part of culture and life for the people of Malta, reflecting their history, influenced by many cultures. Both, the cathedral and the church, had chapels and altars where people prayed in their own language - Italian, French, Maltese, English, ...

Prvý deň nášho pobytu na Malte žiaci začali krátkou inštruktážou k mobilnej aplikácii actionbound. Počas celého týždňa majú zadané úlohy napr. robiť fotografie, natáčať krátke videá, ktorých výsledkom bude spoločné video našich a maltských študentov. Dnes plnili úlohy v hlavnom meste Valletta a v Birgu. Vo Vallette sme navštívili St. John´s Co Cathedral a v Birgu Senglea Parish Church. Spoznali sme, že viera je pre obyvateľov Malty kľúčovou súčasťou kultúry a života, v ktorej sa odráža ich história, ovplyvnená mnohými kultúrami. V katedrále aj  v kostole sa nachádzali kaplnky a oltáre, kde sa ľudia modlili vo svojom jazyku – taliančina, francúzština, maltčina, angličtina, ...
