From 17th to 21st April, we had the opportunity to participate in Erasmus+ project called Integrated literacy in action in the Spanish city of León. 
During the week, our students stayed with their host families in their apartments, where their welcomeness and kindness made them feel comfortable. It was an unforgettable exerience for our students after the long period of covid. Living with them provided an excellent opportunity to learn about their culture, their day-to-day life and taste their traditional food. One of the challenges that they had to face during the week with the family was the language barrier but the students could manage it excelently. It was challenging at times, but they were able to overcome this by using translation apps and hand gestures. And that made their relationship even stronger and more unique. 
On Monday we met with other students and teachers and each country presented their traditional sports and games. It was a fun to practice them outside with our colleagues and students and we couls see how each one is unique and special in their own way. In the afternoon we visited the Cathedral, which has gorgeous stained-glass windows and walked around the historical city centre. We were given guided tours of the city's landmarks and attractions. We visited museums, historic sites, and other cultural destinations, providing us with an opportunity to learn about the history and culture of León. On the next day we went on a trip to Ponferrada, where we saw the castle and played interesting and educational games in the Light Museum. After that we went on a little hike, it was more like a sightseeing, in Las Médulas. The main idea was to measure the students at the beginning of the trip and then after the trip. Afterwards the students compared their results. We were tired after that, but it was worth it and the results were the proof of our tiredness. In the middle of the week, on Wednesday we visited the city hall with their mayor, who welcomed us in the city of León and told us some interesting facts about it. Then we went back to the school, where each country presented thier pre-work about their scientists and achievements. The following activity was a workshop with university students on biotechnology. We did two experiments, such as extracting DNA from banana and the other one was connected to blood groups. We were trying to find a father for an imaginary girl throughout their blood groups. In the afternoon all of us went to a flight simulator at the University of León. On Thursday we went again trekking and sightseeing to Sabero and on a boat trip in Riaño, the weather was sunny and spending the day in nature was amazing. In Riaño we also could see and try a swing with the most beautiful view. On our last day we created outcomes on the topic “science to improve our planet” for example with the topic of carbon footprint and bioclimatic houses. Later all the students with teachers planted a tree ginko. Then we got a certificate with a little present and spent the rest of the afternoon together. It was an excellent chance to break down the cultural barriers. We travelled to Slovakia on Saturday early in the morning and we were seen off by the host families and colleagues. The LTTA was very educational but on the other hand we had a lot of fun and we strenghtened our relationships.
This week provided a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends from different countries. Erasmus+ project week was a great experience, and I feel that I learned a lot about different cultures and international education. The exchange program contributed to an enjoyable and enriching memories. Overall, it was an incredible experience and I am grateful for the opportunity to have participated in it and I look forward to future opportunities for cultural exchange and international education.
